The primary purpose of this role is to take a leading role in identifying needs and providing cost effective technical solutions considering the needs of key stakeholders to the budget and programme agreed.

Key responsibilities :

• To deliver large and complex highways schemes (or several smaller schemes) and provide highways advice for the other schemes to deliver the outcomes agreed to programmes and budgets, to provide Professional and Technical Excellence in highway engineering.
• To report on a bi-weekly basis on performance against budget and programme
• To allocate tasks to other members of the Highways Teams and report to the Highways Team Leader on resourcing issues
• To manage large project teams within the Highways Team

The successful candidate will have relevant vocational qualifications, membership of an appropriate professional institution and a CSCS Supervisor Card and will be registered with the Engineering Council to at least CEng level.

They will be competent in Highway Engineering with detailed knowledge of relevant design codes and knowledge of the use of computer design tools.

They will have appropriate recent experience in Highway Engineering, leading small design teams and of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
